Carpe Diem

I keep my thoughts locked inside, as I sit beside the brook,
There are people with judging minds in every place I look…

I look to the east, and see a flower which will one day slowly die,
That flower is seizing a day and smiling before living out its lie…

Is there a way to lock these sights, these smells, these sounds so complete,
Is there a way to sit alone and witness the cosmic theatre replete…

Walking on the grass, my thoughts take me to a place so pristine and pure,
I look around at the pandemonium, the noise of greed and gold’s lure…

The hunger for more, sickens me, is the end that near?
Pointless gathering of resources, is death the only legitimate fear?

Where are we going is the question oft’ asked, but do we really know?
Can we sit in wisdom’s chair and have a real answer to show…

Is Carpe Diem just a phrase, or can we really seize the day?
Experiences so rich abound this life, we aren't very different from that flower in more than a way…

I die every day if I don’t live out the day, I die if I live for tomorrow,
I die if I miss out on life, and there is no bigger sorrow…
